See that baby ticker over there? Right side column, half way down? Yep, only a few more days until it runs out.
Many people have asked if I'm ready for "this". The answer - I'm as ready as I'm going to be. I've done all the preparation I'm going to do, but honestly I still feel wildly unprepared and out of control of the situation. (might have something to do with Birdie putting the entire package of newborn diapers on her babies when I wasn't looking)
This past Friday, I had my 39 week appointment with my OB. While there, I commented to her how I thought the baby was going to be "big"....and she agreed! (I thought she would be all BFF with me and tell me I was crazy, and the baby was not going to be large, how she loved my outfit and my new haircut - but no.) She admitted that I was measuring large and she thought it would be a good idea if I would consider being induced.
In theory, being induced is very much a nice idea. I'm so ready to carry this baby in my arm instead of my pelvis. Being induced would also be nice as far as giving me back a little control I feel I'm missing.
But....induction does not jive with my plan to try to tackle this birth au natural.
Then again, the little pregnant devil on my right shoulder keeps telling me if I let this baby cook any longer I'll never be able to push an 11 pounder out naturally anyway.
So - here's the plan folks. If I haven't had this baby by Friday (which will totally be the case), we're going to have a little ultrasound to check out the apparently large situation in my womb.
Which means - I have one more chance to find out the sex of the baby. Do you dare me? Honestly, who would wait the whole 40 weeks and then find out via fuzzy black and white monitor in the last hour?
I might...

ohh....don't find out now! You've come so far! And there's something extra exciting about hearing "It's a..." in the delivery room.
Mon Nov 16, 12:14:00 AM
DOn't you dare find out! I agree, you have come way too far.
if you were 30 weeks I would say sure, but nope. Keep on truckin' momma and I can't wait to see him or her!
Thinking of you!
Mon Nov 16, 12:17:00 AM
Would you really? I mean REALLY???
NAH, I don't believe you.
Hang in there girl, you're in the home stretch. Oh wait, I shouldn't have said stretch, huh? ;-)
(i can make these jokes see, because I just had a baby myself...)
Mon Nov 16, 07:45:00 AM
Don't you DARE!!!!
Mon Nov 16, 08:35:00 AM
Usually I am all for finding out...We have some friends that have not found out and it drives me crazy because I want to shop, shop, shop...But you made it this far...Just wait 1 more week...It will be worth it!
Mon Nov 16, 09:13:00 AM
Very soon!!!! Hoping that baby isn't too large!!! and that your first plan works for ya!
Mon Nov 16, 09:45:00 AM
She had to have said you were cute right?
And dude, that kid is packed in there so tight that there's now way you're getting a gander between its legs.
Cody said you looked amazing. Honestly.
Mon Nov 16, 09:47:00 AM
DO NOT do it! You're so close.
Also, remember those u/s can be off by at least a pound. The one I had the day Luke was born said he was 9lbs, 11oz. Thankfully he came out at 9lbs even, because that estimate was a little too close to 10lbs for my liking.
Mon Nov 16, 09:53:00 AM
I double DOG dare you!
Ok, but please remember that they can be off a pound in either direction. WHICH, my brother in law likes to point out, is like the most ridiculous margin of error EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD.
You will be great. Three is SO FUN. And look at all of the caps I'm throwing around....I wouldn't do that if I wasn't TOTALLY serious.
Mon Nov 16, 10:21:00 AM
You can do it! My boys were 9.5 and 9.10 pounds and I somehow pushed them out :)
Mon Nov 16, 10:21:00 AM
I agree, at this point, now you HAVE to wait or you will be so angry at yourself! Will send happy thoughts your way to get this over right and quick. :)
Mon Nov 16, 11:03:00 AM
if you've waited this long, just hold out a few more days, right?
here's an early congrats and I think it's a girl.
Mon Nov 16, 11:08:00 AM
...but do you have a name picked out yet?! -Mr. Blonde

First, I have to say that even the most confident doctors who predict 'big babies' are wrong much of the time. Even if you're measuring big...
True story, my good friend was prego with her 2nd baby boy, and her doctor told her to stop eating so much (even fruit!) because her baby was going to be huge. Don't get me started on HIM... my friend is lean and not even close to overweight. Her baby was 8 lbs and born right around her due date, and she had him naturally. I'm glad I told her not to let her doctor scare her.
Moral: Since Birdie practically fell out of you (I know she's small), I think you will do just fine with this one if you decide to wait and follow your original natural birth plan. You should do what makes you feel most comfortable heading into it, whatever that is. But I'm behind you if you choose not to be induced and wait for things to unfold naturally.
And you have GOT to wait to find out the gender!! :)

Don't find out. It'll be so fun to call everyone and that moment when s/he comes out is just that much cooler. (That sounds so teenager, sorry.) I have to tell you though that I REALLY think you are going to have a boy. I just do. However, I am usually wrong on these things.. but I had to put it out there. I thought your post title today was going to announce a baby BOY e for your clan... You know, cause that would be big news (not that having a girl would not be big news too but just more likely?) anyhow..ramble ramble. I'll be thinking of you! And, I am with you on getting control and getting it over with!!!!
Mon Nov 16, 02:45:00 PM
I've been checking your blog and wondering if the baby was here yet. I have a feeling it's a boy. I have no idea why though. Hang in there!
Mon Nov 16, 05:17:00 PM
Don't do it! Don't do it! It is the best to find out in the hospital. It is pretty much the last thing that our society can leave as a surprise. I'm waiting too. But I have a long 7 more months to go...
Mon Nov 16, 07:13:00 PM
Emily, I have had natural labors with BOTH #1 and #2!! But my #3 was very stubborn and enjoying the belly a little too much.. LOL... after being a week OVERdue and her movements had really slowed we induced....
This is NOT bragging... but b/c I had already had 2 kids no-meds (minus a big tylenol to feel in control with #2)... I was able to be induced with no-meds... LOL.. the midwives were amazed!
I was disappointed to be induced... but I think as a mom you know when the time is right (or has passed).
Praying Baby will come early this week for you:)
Mon Nov 16, 07:16:00 PM
You're just teasing me.
Wed Nov 18, 08:19:00 AM
Now I thought for sure I would come back from vacation and you would be done, lol!
Wed Nov 18, 09:09:00 AM
Hello! I came over to look after seeing that gorgeous photo of you and Birdie on mooshinindy.
I say don't peek, that little surprise when it comes out is so much more emotional.
Good luck with it all!
Wed Nov 18, 09:23:00 AM
Hi - I came here from MooshInIndy and have to say 1 - keep waiting and 2- go for natural inductions. My daughter was TWO WEEKS late but I was gung-ho on a natural birth. She was "measuring big" so my midwife did a few unsuccesful things (like stripping the membranes 3 times, OMG - yuck!). After a few days I caved to having my water broken and hello baby! just 2 hours later, no pitocin needed. And my "big, at least 8.5 lb" baby was a mere 7 lb 1 oz.
Wed Nov 18, 09:36:00 AM
Don't find out this late!
Sending you labor wishes.
Wed Nov 18, 11:15:00 AM
Good luck!
Wed Nov 18, 12:14:00 PM
Good luck, I'll be sending LOTS of happy labor thoughts your way!!! And you can't find out now, you waited this long, what's a few more days, right?!?
Wed Nov 18, 02:36:00 PM
It won't be long now. I can't wait to hear your exciting news.
P.S. I realize that it's a very personal decision with a number of factors, but I would encourage you to avoid induction unless medically necessary. Doctors often "guesstimate" birth weights wrong and - either way - it's important to keep in mind that even bigger babies can be born naturally. My sister's boys were both close to 10 pounds and she birthed them at home, without complications. Just thought I'd share that...
Congrats, again. I'm so excited for you and your family.

Nooooooooo! Don't find out! (long time reader, first time commenter here, chiming in) It'll be more fun to wait and give you something to focus on during labor! (you know, other than pushing a ginormous baby outta your ladybits)
You can do it! Sending good vibes for a quick labor and easy delivery. Also, you will be my official hero if you deliver that sucker au natural. I lahkd mah druuugggz when I had mah baybay.
You look gorgeous on Casey's post!!
Wed Nov 18, 06:56:00 PM
Popped over from Moosh In Indy and had to toss my two cents in, for what they are worth. DON'T DO IT! My first daughter's gender was intended to be a surprise. When she was a couple days overdue, we had an ultrasound to see what was going on in there and I had the same Do-I/Don't-I debate. In the end, we decided to keep the secret and it was so nice to be surprised.
Hang in there and hope the baby comes soon!!
